Why my photo wasn’t working.

So, I was into rustic photography style. I thought it would be that simple.
Just make a pick, stick to that theme and take a photo every week.

I was in my mum’s house and my eye fell on this small, light blue bowl.
I liked the color and wasn’t I looking for some object for my next 1goodenoughphoto? I asked my mum if I could borrow it for a few days and took it home. In the meantime thinking about what I would combine it with etc.

It wasn’t working. I took me almost an entire day to take this picture. More if you include the thinking, planning, choosing and buying the fruit. I tried different angles, backdrops, all the pears, only a few pears, …

LEARN FROM YOUR MISTAKES
I decided to let it go and forget about the day. But then the day would have been completely waisted.
So I forced myself to acknowledge: what went wrong?

FALL IN LOVE WITH YOUR SUBJECT
You have to be utterly and completely in love with your subject while you take the picture.

DON’T FORCE
It’s about the subject finding you. Give it space and time to do so. Don’t go looking for a subject to take pictures, let them find you.

WORK FROM YOUR HEART
This lovely little bowl wasn’t really me. I was working fom my head, not from my heart.
I thought that I would succeed if I kept trying and would work really hard on the photo. It’s not about hard work. It may seem weird but it has to go naturally, in an easy way.

GOOD LUCK!!
